Airsoft exploded views: identify parts and repair your replica effectively

An airsoft exploded view is a technical diagram showing all the parts of a disassembled replica. Each component is numbered to allow for quick and accurate identification.

It is used by both players and technicians to:

  • identify a defective or worn part
  • understand the internal workings of a replica (GBB, AEG, or sniper)
  • replace a component without reference errors
  • prepare for an upgrade or repair

Whether for a gas-powered pistol (GBB), an electric replica (AEG), or a sniper rifle, the exploded view is an indispensable tool for effectively maintaining your airsoft equipment.

How to use an exploded view to repair or upgrade an airsoft replica: Using an exploded view allows you to quickly diagnose a malfunction and find the correct replacement part. Here is the method used in our workshop to avoid common mistakes:

  1. Identify the exact model of the replica
    Check the brand, version, and generation (e.g., Glock Gen 3 vs. Gen 4) to avoid any incompatibility.
  2. Locate the part on the exploded view
    Each component is associated with a number. This reference allows you to precisely locate the part within the mechanism.
  3. Understand the part’s function
    Before replacing a component, it is important to know its function (sealing, propulsion, guidance, etc.).
  4. Check compatibility
    Some parts differ by brand (WE, Tokyo Marui, KWA). Verification is essential before purchase.
  5. Compare with the actual condition
    Disassemble your replica and compare the part with the diagram to confirm the cause of the malfunction.

This method helps prevent ordering errors and ensures a reliable repair, even for beginners.

Action Army AAP-01: Exploded View, Wear Parts, and GBB Upgrades

The AAP-01 is one of the most upgradeable GBB platforms on the market. Its modular design allows virtually every part to be replaced without specialized tools. In the workshop, the parts most frequently replaced are the magazine valve (part #41 on the exploded view, prone to leaks after 3,000 cycles) and the nozzle (part #34, to be inspected in the event of any unexplained loss of power).

Important note: The AAP-01 accepts Green Gas or propane in the summer, but we recommend R144a (low-pressure) gas as soon as the temperature drops below 10°C to protect the cylinder head gaskets. The optimal operating pressure is between 120 and 135 PSI. Always refer to your replica’s version (Standard vs. Assassin): the internal kit differs slightly, particularly regarding the trigger assembly (parts #11 through #18).

AAP-01 ASSASSIN

ASG – Exploded views of GBB, AEG, and sniper replicas

ASG replicas (CZ and Dan Wesson series) are robust but are particularly sensitive to the lubrication of the firing valves. Maintenance with silicone oil every 500 to 800 BBs prevents chronic leaks over the long term. In the workshop, 65% of failures on the CZ P-09 and SP-01 are related to the magazine inlet valve (part #35 on exploded views 18137 and 18409) — an inexpensive part whose preventive replacement is strongly recommended.

On Dan Wesson CO2 models (715 and 715 low), the capsule O-rings (part #8) require systematic inspection before every winter session: cold CO2 generates pressure spikes exceeding 180 PSI, which accelerate their wear. Regarding the Scorpion EVO 3 (part #17831), the proprietary gearbox shares no parts with the V2/V3 standards—use only the dedicated exploded view to identify the correct part numbers.

KWA: How to Identify and Order Parts for the NS2 and System 7 Systems?

KWA is the leading brand for high-performance gas systems (NS2 and System 7 Two). These precision mechanisms are designed to operate at an optimal pressure of 130 to 140 PSI using standard Green Gas. Warning: KWA hop-up rings are sized differently from Tokyo Marui or WE standards—an incorrect ring will consistently result in a loss of backspin and an unstable trajectory.

In the workshop, the most frequently ordered part for KSC USPs and Glocks is the magazine valve piston (referred to as the “loading nozzle” on official exploded views, listed as part 54 on most models). Important: KWA and KSC share the same platform for many models, but part numbers are not interchangeable between brands—you must refer to the exploded view for your specific manufacturer.

Tokyo Marui – Exploded Views for Maintenance and Upgrades

Tokyo Marui's Japanese precision is based on a low-pressure philosophy: Marui GBBs can withstand a maximum of 110 PSI, which requires the exclusive use of HFC134a gas or low-pressure Green Gas. Using propane or high-pressure CO2 risks cracking the ABS slide—often identified as part #1 (slide) on Marui GBB exploded diagrams.

In the workshop, the most common failures on the Hi-Capa 5.1 involve the inlet valve (part #45) after approximately 5,000 cycles, and the nozzle seal (part #28) when power loss occurs gradually. On Next Generation AEGs, the cam lever (part #12 on MWS and HK416 exploded diagrams) is the first component to check in case of irregular rate of fire. Regarding the VSR-10, the hop-up ball seal (part #35) is responsible for 80% of observed accuracy issues.

WE Airsoft: Which wear parts should you replace first on your GBB and GBBR models?

WE replicas are ideal for upgrading thanks to their extensive range of aftermarket parts. The most common wear parts are the striker (hammer—part #57 on the M92 series, part #44 on the Hi-Capa) and the nozzle seals (part #30 on most WE GBBs), which should be inspected approximately every 3,000 cycles.

For GBBRs (M4/M16 series, Apache, MSK), the critical component is the bolt carrier: on open-bolt versions, this component absorbs most of the dynamic stress. We recommend upgrading to a steel version (Guarder or Angry Gun) after 10,000 cycles if you use Green Gas year-round. Note: the internal parts of WE Glocks are compatible with certain KJ Works and Stark Arms models—check our compatibility charts if in doubt.

G&G Armament : CM16, TR16 et ETU — vues éclatées et points de vigilance

ICS AIRSOFT: Exploded Views and Features of the Split Gearbox

ICS stands out for its “Split Gearbox” — a gearbox consisting of two separable parts that can be removed without disassembling the entire replica. This design radically simplifies troubleshooting: the upper block (compression) houses the cylinder, cylinder head, and nozzle; the lower block (mechanical) contains the gears, piston, and motor.

In the workshop, a loss of power without abnormal noise points to the upper block (worn cylinder head gasket, part no. 22); a knocking noise suggests the lower block (faulty check valve, part no. 8). This logical separation reduces diagnostic time by 40% compared to a conventional one-piece gearbox.

SRC: Exploded Views of SR47, SR36, SR74 GBB — Standard Gearbox and Reassembly

SRC replicas use V2 (M4/M16 series) and V3 (AK series) gearboxes, which are very robust and fully compatible with standard aftermarket parts. The main challenge in the workshop involves motor alignment during reassembly: the height of the pistol grip must be adjusted until a slight, steady scraping sound is heard when the trigger is pulled manually—a sign that the motor pinion is meshing correctly.

On GBB versions (SR74 and SR36 GBB), the magazine seal (part no. 12) is the first component to check in case of a leak. These models operate optimally with Green Gas or propane at temperatures above 15°C; below 10°C, R144a gas is recommended to protect the inlet valve (part no. 18).

Cybergun: Identify the OEM Manufacturer to Order the Right Parts

Behind the Cybergun brand lie mechanisms manufactured by various OEMs: the SCAR and FNX GBB models are produced by VFC, the M92/PT92 series by KWC, and certain AK models by Cyma. It is essential to understand this: ordering a “Cybergun” part without identifying the actual manufacturer results in receiving an incompatible part 70% of the time.

The exploded view is your key diagnostic tool: compare your model’s part numbers with the corresponding OEM diagrams to verify compatibility. On Desert Eagle Magnums (090505 and 090509 series), the CO2 seals (parts #6 and #7) should be checked every season. For the FN HERSTAL series (SCAR-L and P90 GBBR), nozzle parts are exclusively VFC-compatible—do not order generic parts.
